About This Place

Saigon Cafe is a beloved Vietnamese restaurant nestled in the heart of Eugene, Oregon, offering an authentic taste of Vietnam that captivates the senses from the very first bite. Located at 4355 Commerce St, this cozy yet vibrant eatery invites diners into a warm and inviting atmosphere where the aroma of fresh herbs, spices, and simmering broths instantly whets your appetite.

The strength of Saigon Cafe lies in its masterful execution of classic Vietnamese dishes, starting with their signature Rare Beef Pho and the crowd-favorite Pho DAC Biet. Unlike many pho recipes that can feel watered-down, here the broth is rich and nuanced—layered with subtle hints of fragrant herbs and topped with a delicate sheen of animal fat that genuinely elevates the flavor. It's a comforting warmth in every spoonful that keeps guests coming back for more. Vegetarians and vegans are also well-catered to, with a wonderfully fresh and satisfying Vegan Pho as well as vegetable-forward options like the Veggie Soup and Veggie Chow Fun.

Appetizers at Saigon Cafe are equally enticing, with crispy Vietnamese Fried Chicken Wings served alongside a tangy fish sauce that bursts with flavor, and golden Pot Stickers (Banh Xep) that offer a perfect balance of texture and savory fillings. For a light yet flavorful start, the Pork and Shrimp Salad Rolls bring fresh herbs and tender meat in a refreshing package.

The menu excels further with dishes like Chicken Lemongrass offering a fragrant, zesty punch, balanced by dishes such as the hearty Basil Fried Rice or the House Special Banh Mi, which is a sandwich that many locals rave about for its generous portions and bold, layered flavors. Diners appreciate how simple ingredients come together here with such care—each sandwich packed with fresh herbs, pickled vegetables, and savory meats that create a harmonious bite every time.

Rice plates like the Grilled Pork with grilled shrimp, fried egg, and steamed rice corn or the Teriyaki Chicken and Steamed Rice combine comfort with sophistication, great for those seeking a wholesome, satisfying meal. The menu also showcases regional Vietnamese specialties like Phnom Penh Noodle Soup and Grilled Pork Vermicelli, broadening the culinary journey with authentic flavors.

What truly distinguishes Saigon Cafe is not just the food but the overall experience. The staff exudes warmth and genuine hospitality—always ready with a smile and laughter, instantly making you feel like part of their community. This welcoming vibe, combined with consistently fresh and thoughtfully prepared dishes, has earned the restaurant enthusiastic praise from locals and visitors alike. For instance, loyal customer Danqing Dai notes that this spot serves the “fav pho in town without a doubt,” emphasizing the freshness and richness of their broth. Another regular, Valentin Serrano, highlights the cheerful atmosphere and friendly staff, underscoring how Saigon Cafe feels like a home away from home.

Whether you are a longtime fan of Vietnamese cuisine or an adventurous foodie eager to explore its rich flavors, Saigon Cafe in Eugene promises an unforgettable experience. From the first sip of broth to the last bite of banh mi, every dish is a celebration of authentic culinary craftsmanship and heartfelt hospitality.

I have lived in Eugene/Springfield for over five years and had no idea this place existed. So good! Even their vegetarian pho and spring rolls are excellent!

Picked up a to go order here on my lunch break from work. I had been hearing great things about this place so I decided to try it out. I got the lemongrass chicken banh mi and it was delicious. So much flavor in a sandwich that seems so simple. So affordable too for such a big sandwich. Will definitely be back.

Fav pho in town without a doubt! Unlike most other pho places where the Broth is condensed into something that tastes like water mixed with pho flavor powder, broth in this place tastes fresh and so rich in subtle flavors and herbs, and has actual animal fat on top (which I was told by my Vietnamese friend that that is the signature of good, real pho). One of our other favorite is lemongrass chicken vermicelli. The chicken is indeed so marinated in lemongrass and tastes incredible. We’ve moved out of Eugene this year but every time we came back to town for a visit, Saigon cafe is a must stopping station

I used to eat here all the time between 2018 and 2022. I just went back recently after several years, and it is still the same great place that it was then! The menu is about the same, classic Vietnamese options. I usually get the phi, which is amazing, but this time I got the veggie chow fun, still amazing. The food is always fresh and clean. So cliché, I know! But I really enjoy this restaurant and I think you will too!

Saigon Cafe: Best Pho in Town, Plus Bahn Mi That Kicks! Saigon Cafe is more than just a restaurant; it’s a warm, welcoming experience. From the moment you step through the door, you're greeted with genuinely friendly service. The staff here are simply wonderful—you can constantly hear cheerful laughing and see smiles, creating an atmosphere that makes you feel like a valued guest. This level of hospitality truly sets the tone for a fantastic meal. Let's talk about the food, starting with the Pho. I can confidently say this is likely the best bowl of Pho in the entire town. The broth is rich, deeply flavored, and perfectly balanced, making every spoonful pure comfort. It’s the standard by which all other Pho should be measured. If you're looking for something quick and flavorful, you absolutely must try their Bahn Mi sandwiches. They are incredibly delicious and pack a satisfying kick of spice. While all their sandwiches are great, my personal recommendation is the Grilled Pork Bahn Mi. The tender, marinated pork combined with the crisp vegetables and spicy sauce makes for an unforgettable lunch. If you appreciate truly authentic Vietnamese cuisine served with genuine heart, Saigon Cafe is the place to go. Don't miss out on this local gem!

I discovered this place through a recommendation from someone who works at a Chinese restaurant, and I must say, the broth of the pho was incredibly rich and savory. The fresh rolls were tightly wrapped and paired beautifully with the peanut sauce, while the egg rolls were crispy on the outside and moist on the inside—absolutely delicious. It’s a spot where you can casually enjoy authentic cuisine, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

I’ve had pho at all the Viet places in town: this place, Vietnam Restaurant, Bon Mi, and Pho the Good Times. Saigon is the best, no question. The broth is better, the meat is better, and the bowl is bigger. I’ve eaten at probably no less than 20 pho restaurants in the SF Bay Area, and Saigon Cafe compares the most favorably to there. Other pho places here are just not good.

They have the best pho in town, not to mention their fried chicken wings are so crispy and delicious! I always get the shrimp pho. So delicious. The staff are always so kind and love to joke with you a little.
